Spread the love

The walk to the cafe went by pretty fast, or was it because I was speed walking? Why was I so excited to meet up with a guy I have only talked with twice? He does seem nice, he seems like the only non-Grace related thing in my life right now. Which I feel like I really need something in my life that has nothing to do with Grace. No matter how harsh that sounds, I really have to focus on my health too.

I approached The Lavender Cafe and walked inside quickly, I saw the man from yesterday sitting in the exact same booth that we chatted in last time.

“Hey.” I said softly to try not to spook him.

“Hi! Nice to see you again.” His voice sent shivers down my spine. I sat down in the booth across from him. He didn’t have a coffee, did he wait for me to order a drink? How sweet.

“Nice to see you too. I didn’t keep you waiting long did I?” I asked

“Not at all.” I smiled.

“You look lovely.” I wore a short grey knitted dress with black leggings so I was warm. I took the time and curled my hair. It doesn’t look the best because my hair is short, but I wanted to do something special.

“Thank you.” I blushed.

“Would yo like a coffee?” He asked.

“Oh yes please, It’s chilly out there!”

“Okay. He smiled and walked up to the cafe’s counter.

I looked out the window, it had started raining. I liked the sound the rain made as it hit the pain of glass. Butterflies started flying around in my stomach. I don’t even know this man’s name and I’m on a date with him. Or, is it even a date? Are we just hanging out?

“I just realized I don’t even know your name.” I said to the man as he sat back at the table.

“Sorry about that, I didn’t even realize. I’m Noah.”

“Well thank you for the coffee Noah, I’m Chloe.” I smiled, I felt a little bit more connected with him now that I actually knew his name.

“Hi Chloe.” Noah said. I smiled at his words, him saying my name was magical.

“I don’t mean to purge information, but is there any news on your sister? Grace I think her name was.”

Why does he want to know about Grace? Why is it any of his business? But I can’t tell him that it’s none of his business, I don’t want to scare him off.

“No updates yet sadly.” I said.

“That’s too bad.”

“Yeah.” It has only been two days with no news, maybe I should walk over to the police station later tonight and see if they do have any news on Grace.

“So I noticed yo work at Araignee web design.”

“Yes I do, I’m the Co-Manager.”

“Wow, really? My uncle actually used to work there.” I mentioned.

“What’s his name? I might know him.” Noah asked.

“Henry Prater.” I highly doubt he has worked with that web deign company since my uncle worked there. It’s been awhile. And Noah doesn’t look like he is that old, it’s crazy that he is a co-manager for a company at his age! I wonder how old he actually is…

“’Hm. No haven’t heard of him.”

“By the way how old are you?” I ask suddenly. Why did I burst out the question like that? That’s not a question you suddenly ask someone! Noah chuckled.

“That’s not a fair question, but I will answer it if yo tell yours first Chloe.” He smirked. Why am I getting into this now? Should I really tell Noah my age? Well I suppose it’s only fair if he tells me his then I tell him mine.

“I’m twenty Three.” I took a deep breath. Why does telling him my age make me so uncomfortable?

“Twenty Five.” He said quickly.

“Well we aren’t too far apart are we?” I asked.

“Not at all.” He smiled. I took the final sip of my coffee then set the empty cup on the table.

“Are you done your coffee? Would you like another?” Noah asked.

“No thanks, It’s alright. But thank you for the offer.” I noticed the blond woman who ran the cafe was walking over.

“No more coffee is made any ways, cafe is closing. I’m going to have to ask you two to leave.” The blond woman said.

“Oh sorry, I didn’t realize how late it was.” I said.

“No problem. Talk to you folks tomorrow.” She smiled and walked to the back of the cafe.

“Well. This was very nice Noah, thank you.”

“No, thank YOU for inviting me out again. And now I have your number saved in my phone.”

“Good.” I got up and walked out the door. That night had been perfect. From the coffee to finding out more about Noah, he even walked me home from the cafe.

That night was perfect.

Noah, was perfect.
